About
Just as technology is always changing, so are the ways people work out. Traditionally there were weight benches in every health club, in back yards and garages. Slowly those gave way to a more popular method of weight training, machines. Cables and pulleys with weight stacks began to dominate the fitness world. With the rise of the weight machine a whole new world of options and limitless technological possibilities was opened.
Body Solid has been the fore runner of ground breaking fitness evolution for over three decades, winning over top fitness professionals and celebrated fitness publications. Body Solid is world renowned for their high tech designs and superb quality home gym and commercial fitness equipment. In true Body Solid fashion, they’ve taken the weight training machine a step further ushering in a new era of fitness.
MOVE THAT BODY
The Body-Solid Functional Training Center | GDCC200 out performs every machine and free weight exercise imaginable. The secret is in the movement. Ordinary weight training with home gyms and free weights limit and restrict the movement of the body. In day to day activities a person bends, twists, stretches and contorts their bodies in many ways.
The human body moves in more than just two directions, and so should weight trainers. That’s what functional training is all about. Working the muscle groups the same way they would if you were training for a marathon or just trying to keep up with children.
CUSTOMIZABLE WORKOUTS
With the Body Solid Functional training center workouts can be adjusted and customized to optimize and streamline workouts. Functional training works just about every single muscle group in the body, easily and efficiently.
Core stability and strength training are the best ways to improve balance and coordination, increasing stability and endurance. In fact there is no machine on the market today that can do what the Body-Solid Functional Training Center | GDCC200 can do.
Hundreds of strength building exercises can be done on the Functional Training center no matter what your size or fitness level. Up to twenty independent height adjustments and an amazing one hundred and eighty degree cable positioning, this gym is the master of accommodation. Even the pull up bar has a multi grip handle for variety and user friendliness.
FEATURES BEYOND EXCEPTIONAL
Dual one hundred and sixty pound weight stacks can function independently for isolateral movements. If one hundred and sixty isn’t enough to get the blood pumping, Body Solid offers a fifty pound upgrade for extreme muscle shredding workouts.
Cable cross overs, shoulder presses, pull ups and leg kick backs are just a few of the body sculpting moves the Functional Training Center can dish up. If it can be dreamed up or performed on any other machine, it can be done with the Body-Solid Functional Training Center | GDCC200.
Backed by Body Solid’s exceptional in home lifetime and commercial warranties, the functional training center is not just weight trainer, it’s peace of mind.

Yes, this is the latest version

Since the stacks have numbers instead of pounds, how do you know how much weight you've selected?
The Body-Solid GDCCC200 Functional Training Center utilizes 10 pound plates. So, if you multiply each number by 10 you would have the weight selected on the stack. For instance, selecting “10” means there would be 10 plates x 10 lbs = 100 lbs. Keep in mind that the weight ratio is 1/2:1 for each stack due to the cable pulley ratio, so 100 pounds of weight selected will actually be 50 pounds of functional weight while in use.

Can you add more weight to this machine? The example appears to have spacers under the weight stack.
You can only add weight stacks made from Body-Solid.

How do you get the squat bar into starting position with a heavy load?
The optional bar attaches to the adjustable pulley system on each side of the system. You would attach the bar and then set the adjustable pulley carriages at the right height so that the bar sits on your shoulders tightly when you are at the lower end of your squat position. This is done before you start your exercise, do not try to adjust it as you are using the system. By the way, the press bar that is used for squats is an option that must be purchased in addition to this Functional Trainer.

I'm getting a cable machine. what style of exercise bench have you found to be most useful? flat? chairlike? flat/chairlike convertible? other?
Find a FID bench. That is a Flat, Incline, Decline bench. You want one that is versatile as you can change the pulley location on the functional trainer which will allow you to perform a lot of different exercises.

Are the weights hard steel outer or wrapped rubber?
They are steel.

Can you perform upper /lower lat pull exercises?
Yes you could either by sitting on a bench in the middle and pulling from the pulleys in a raised position or you could get a lat bar attachment and use it from one side.

Is this unit wide enough for a 6'4" man to do cable crossovers or would it be worth getting the DCC250 instead?
If you want this to feel just like a commercial cross-over in the gym you would need the 250. You can still get a very effective fly / cross-over motion with this unit.
I’m always a little hesitant to answer questions like this, because everyone has a different standard for what they are looking for/ happy with.

"I bought my gdcc200 through a local dealer but wanted to share my input with as many potential buyers as possible. I'll start by saying I considered more expensive, fully commercial functional trainers. Glad I didn't! The cables and pulleys are all smooth as silk! On par with any hoist, hammer strength, or precor machine I have used, especially after a shot of silicone lube to the guide rods and pulleys. No wobbles either, and as far as I'm concerned, stability and fluid motion are the only necessities when it comes to any selectorized weight stack machine. The only issue I have is with body solid's marketing. The demonstration photos on their site, as well as the included exercise guide chart, all show users who are VERY short, making the machine appear much taller than it actually is. I included pictures that show a male model who's neck is about as high as the cross member, which is even with my tricep! Don't get me wrong, the unit is tall enough for most workouts (some users over 6' may need to take a step forward when doing cable crossovers.. which many people do regardless of the machines height). This seems dishonest to me.. which is the only reason i'm deducting a star."

"Final product is pretty good. Although some exercises requiring arms spread to full wingspan may have to be done one side at a time. Set up was a little more difficult due to the fact that they don't label and pieces or hardware, so each bolt, nut, washer has to be identified by measuring it before you know what to use. They could have easily bubble packed them with letter designations, but didn't. I would also recommend having three people available to help put some pieces together, although most can be done by yourself. It can be done with two people, but would be much easier if you get a third set of hands for a couple minor things. Overall pretty good though!"

"I've had this product for a few years now and I'm still using it each & every week. Excellent build and is very sturdy. This piece of equipment is one of the most used items in my gym that gives so many different exercises & muscles that can be worked with it. I would definitely recommend by the extra 50 lb weight stack. My only negative is I'm starting to max out on some of the exercises even with the extra weights."

"Purchased this for my home owners association gym and it is great. Does everything you need. Quality material too. Does not wobble and weight stack is smooth. Slides well although you have to keep it oiled which is normal maintenance. Overall great product."

"I purchased this piece of equipment nearly 4 years ago with the option of a larger weight stack. Let me just say: The flexibility of this piece of equipment is wonderful. It's sturdy (no shake) and has taken some real abuse. The center pull-up bar is solid. The cable columns are smooth. The side adjustability accommodates most exercises... that being said I have found at times that I wish the unit was taller (providing a higher top angle and also allowing the user to stand further away from the machine). I find, sometimes, that I need to step too far away from the machine to achieve a certain angle and that causes the weight stack to hit the top of the cable column during the exercise.... the remedy is to alter the angle/get closer to the machine. Not a huge deal though, considering the equipment is in my house!!! A note about the weight stack: it lifts lighter than one might think. There are add-on weights, however you can forget pulling down large amounts of weight (even if the weight stack numbers correspond to what you might be used-to at the gym. However, I have found a way around this problem by connecting a high-weight rated chain between the two cable columns. This provides an excellent lift assist for pull-ups (if needed) and allows me to tap into the weight of both stacks... of course only do something like this at your own risk - I'm sure the manufacturer wouldn't recommend it. Also, I use a chained weight belt (to hold plates) for heavier pull-ups. At any rate, and the risk of rambling, if you are looking for a versatile cable column... definitely give this one consideration. I've found it to be a great piece of equipment and a center piece of my home gym."
