Muscle Usage
The rowing stroke uses a vast combination of muscles. All the muscles, from the tips of the fingers holding the handle/oars, to the balls of the feet connected to the footboard/boat, all the muscles between these two points contribute to the rowing stroke By maximizing the muscle mass contributing to the exercise in this way, the WaterRower is unrivalled in benefit derived per unit of time. Other common aerobic exercise equipment like treadmills, cycles, ellipticals and even other rowing machines, use far less muscle mass, burn fewer calories and generating less exercise benefit.
Maximize Gain/Minimize Time
Many exercise machines claim to be King when it comes to calorie consumption rates.
The truth about calorie consumption, however, is that it relates to YOUR ability to produce the work, not the machines To burn 800 calories per hour, for example, on a treadmill, bike, elliptical, etc requires a very high (almost unsustainable) intensity of exercise
By spreading work over a wide range of muscles, rowing consumes calories in more muscles, allowing a high calorie consumption within the users limits of fatigue. Other exercises, recruiting fewer muscles, require far higher intensities or exercise to achieve the same calorie consumptions as rowing.
Joint Health
Rowing moves the joints through a full range of motion, from legs totally extended to totally contracted and arms totally contracted to totally extended. Moving the joints through a full range of motion aids joint lubrication, joint mobility and overall Joint Health.
Rowing is a smooth, flowing action involving little to no impact on the joints. Note- Many mechanical rowers are jerky and jarring on the joints, and fail to emulate the smoothness of rowing and the WaterRower.
Rowing is a seated exercise removing the weight of the body from the injury-prone joints of the ankle, hip and knees. The load placed on the joints is controlled by the uses effort when rowing, not their body weight.
Rowing is suitable for all, young or old, male or female, big or small, fit or unfit .
Relaxing to the Mind
The WaterRower blends the tranquility of moving water, the warmth of wood, and the rhythm of motion.
These qualities combine to provide a naturally pleasurable activity. Invigorating the body while relaxing the mind.
Composed to capture the aesthetics of rowing, the WaterRower is enjoyable to use. The calming tones and smooth action encourages the user from stroke to stroke.
The symphony of these elements engage the user with a satisfaction which should be experienced.

CUSTOMER QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
The most important features to me are very smooth operation and ability to modulate resistance. Does this model meet those requirements?
This machine has very smooth movement. There is no real way to increase resistance other than changing the water level. However I’ve never found that to be a negative.
Answer #1 on March 15, 2022
It is extremely smooth. You can only change resistance slighty by the amount of water you put in it, so it isn’t adjustable like some machines. We love ours, it is pert!
Answer #2 on March 15, 2022
Is the S4 Bluetooth and will it work with Apps?
No it is not Bluetooth and it does not work with apps. Must purchase optional Bluetooth adapter. Which is about an additional $100.00

What is the weight limit for rower?
I think is in the neighborhood of 300lbs. Go to their website and you can find the exact weight limit.
Answer #1 on January 6, 2020
Does this model have “Waterrower Club” written on the side, like I usually see in photos of this black wood club model?
No, this unit is all black it does not have the club decal on the rails or the rosewood stain all of the wood is stained black.
Answer #1 on June 15, 2021
Can I sit and be moved around on carpet?
Yes it can be moved on carpet. Low pile is preferable, as the cord that attaches to the handle attaches to a bungee cord on the underside. There are built in risers but they only give a bit of clearance. WaterRower Club sells separately risers that give more clearance off the floor. With these even high pile carpet should be no problem.
